K-State notes
IKey play: It was starting to get out of hand for Kansas State until senior guard Clent Stewart drained a three-point shot that sliced Nebraska's lead to 28-23, ending the Huskers' 9-3 run and preventing the Wildcats from perhaps falling behind by double digits.
Key stat: 18-14. Rebounds usually are K-State's strength. But Nebraska got the better of the Wildcats on the boards in the first half. Aleks Maric notched eight of them for the Huskers, including four on the offensive end.
Second half
Key play: K-State closed within two points and had a shot to tie it, but guard Jacob Pullen missed a layup with 32 seconds remaining. The Wildcats never did overcome Nebraska.
Key stat: 6-0. Nebraska finished the game by scoring the final six points.
Notes
** No more ESPN2 in the regular season for K-State. That may be a good thing. The Wildcats fell to 0-4 on the channel this season. Their other losses on ESPN2 were to George Mason, Oregon and Texas Tech.
** Freshman Dominique Sutton missed his fourth game because of a sprained knee. He was on the bench, in uniform.
